Madison, WI, US – Dentistry and Oral Surgery Position for Specialty Intern Announced

The University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Surgical Sciences invites you to apply for a one-year Dentistry and Oral Surgery Internship.

The position begins July 15, 2019 to July 14, 2020. The starting salary is $26,900 annually with full benefits, including two weeks paid vacation. Wisconsin Veterinary License is required or ability to obtain one. The objective of this program is to provide training, knowledge and experience in the discipline of companion animal dentistry and oral surgery through exposure to clinical dentistry and oral surgery, teaching and research. This training opportunity will provide exposure to clinical veterinary dentistry and oral surgery and should prepare the intern for transition into clinical general practice or application to a residency training program if other requirements by the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) are met. The internship opportunity is designed to provide a glimpse into the experience of a residency training program fulfilling the requirements as established by the AVDC.

This position is for a 12-month training program which will be dedicated to clinical training in dentistry and oral surgery and related disciplines. The intern will share “on call” duty for oral and maxillofacial emergencies and be backed up by the two dentistry and oral surgery residents.  

Participation in resident case rounds, didactic rounds and participation in clinical teaching of veterinary students is expected.  An opportunity to participate in research projects is recommended but not required.  Participation in Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service sponsored continuing education events will be expected.

The intern will have two weeks paid vacation annually. In addition to vacation leave, the intern is entitled to a maximum of five working days to attend professional meetings. The Dentistry and Oral Surgery intern will have 6 weeks off clinics to pursue professional development.
